Journal of Creative Pursuit #1 – Identity

$30.00

This issue is a celebration and exploration of identity through creative work.

We capture the complexity of identity through a creative work by Dalia Al-Dujaili. We explore the struggle of reclaiming one’s identity by looking at the issue of abortion highlighted in a documentary produced and directed by Joanna Suchomska. Through a discussion with Jeanne de Kroon, we unpack the privileges that come with particular identities and the inequalities caused by them. We tell stories about the lurking threat of losing one’s identity by delving deeper into an exhibition on climate change in Nepal by the Nepal Picture Library. And through a conversation with The Letters Project, we seek to understand the freedom a person might feel of being detached from their identity.

About Journal of Creative Pursuit

Journal of Creative Pursuit (JoCP) is a diary of creatives that delve deeper into their creative practice, social, and cultural issues highlighted through their work. Acknowledging the systemic inequalities within the creative industries, this publication seeks to diversify the narratives it creates. We aim to bring attention to creatives who are underrepresented on the global scale. We hope that through the stories and discussions we have with creatives from different parts of the world, we can shed light on some cultural and social issues that various communities face.
