School Workshops

At Objectifs, we believe in the importance of a holistic education where youths are nurtured to develop a sound appreciation of aesthetics and the visual arts. Through emphasis on critical thinking and skilful communication using the mediums of photography and film, our school workshops aim to achieve student outcomes aligned with Singapore’s Ministry of Education’s 21st Century Competencies. With authentic learning experiences as a key focus, our programmes enable youths to view the world through alternative lenses while giving them the opportunity to tell their personal stories.

The school workshops at Objectifs are currently endorsed by the National Arts Council under its Arts Education Programme.

Our popular workshops include:

Digital Photography
This workshop introduces students to basic photography concepts through a blend of short lectures and hands-on practices. Students will be exposed to different photography styles while gaining knowledge on myriad photography techniques. This course focuses on helping students creatively envision and express their ideas visually through the lens of a camera. We are also able to incorporate Events Photography modules for students who cover school events, which will include how-tos on handling situations with different lighting and scenarios.
Photo + Design
Design is an integral part of media culture, and photography is one of the most commonly used languages in the design process. In this workshop, students will learn how to use photography as a tool in the design process. They will acquire the foundational blocks of visual communication and learn how to convey their ideas successfully, which can facilitate effective project presentation and pitching. Students will also be taught basic photography skills using a DSLR/mirrorless camera, as well as simple editing skills with Photoshop.
Visual Diary
In this workshop, students will be taught basic photography concepts and ways to craft photo essays. They will learn how to shoot, edit and present their images, all of which will culminate in the production of a personal photo project by the end of the course. This could take either the form of a documentary project or a fine art project. Topics for previous projects undertaken include school life, family, and social issues. Completed projects will also have the opportunity to be selected and exhibited at Objectifs’ annual students’ showcase.
Digital Filmmaking
Our Digital Filmmaking workshop provides students with inspiration for visual storytelling while equipping them with skills to do so through the video medium. Students will be taken through the process of idea generation, script and storyboard development, followed by production and editing in order to complete their own short film.
We are able to further customise the workshop to focus on different genres e.g. video journalism, experimental films, music videos etc.
Travelling Short Film Project
The TSFP exposes students to a variety of award-winning local short films, offering them a better understanding of Singaporean heritage and culture, as well as developing their appreciation for film and visual culture. Usually conducted as an assembly programme, we will select and screen 4-5 short films based on content, merit, and accessibility to a young audience. Each short film will be accompanied by a short introduction to its themes, concerns, and context.
How do you come up with an idea and make it soar in the written realm of a script? In this workshop, students will learn how to craft, explore, and do research on creative ideas they have for a short film. Following which, they will be taught ways to develop a film concept and construct a detailed visual, sound, and narrative treatment for it. Students will also get the chance to work on dialogue, character biographies, and a short film script if time permits.

All of our workshops can be conducted online or in a hybrid manner. Apart from the above offerings, we can also customise workshops or talks based on the needs of your students. Get in touch with us today at 6336 2957 or drop us an email to find out how we can work with your school!
