About the director

Jen spent 15 years producing-writing, as well as dabbled in the dark arts of film business – acquisition, marketing and distribution. Her first feature Truth Be Told (2007) bagged Best Original Film at the Asian Film Festival of Rome, and she went on to produce the International Emmy-nominated web series People Like Us (2016, 2019). As producer, her projects in development were selected for labs and financing forums such as the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum (2014), Europe-Asia Ties that Bind Producers’ Workshop (2015), BiFAN-NAFF It Project (2016), IMDA-LaSalle WritersLab 2017, Screen Canberra Accelerator Film POD (2018/19) and Co-Production Bazaar (2019).

Her rebirth as writer-director pushed off with Elsa (2019), a docu-short that received the Special Mention at the SeaShorts Film Festival 2020 and travelled to festivals like Jogja-NETPAC 2020. Her narrative short, The Note (2021), made its way to Inside Out Toronto Film Festival 2022, among others. Her latest short, Buah (Fruit), competed in Busan International Film Festival 2025, Sundance Film Festival 2026, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2026, and SXSW Film & TV Festival 2026. It won the Special Jury Prize and Queer Jury Special Mention at Clermont-Ferrand.
