Women in Film 2019 Screenings

Women in Film is part of Objectifs’ annual Women in Film and Photography showcase. This year’s programme, themed Remedy for Rage, presents the Singapore premiere of five international feature films that demonstrate how women filmmakers have created works that speak to local and global concerns, exploring how rage against discrimination, repression and injustice can be channeled into a force for awareness, action and change through art.

In each of these films, women encounter personal and professional challenges such as sexism, ageism, financial difficulties and adverse family dynamics. The films reveal women’s strength and creativity in adapting to and challenging their circumstances, while fiercely protecting their identities as individuals and caring for their loved ones.

Click on the links below to find out more about each film and to purchase individual tickets ($8 each) or a Season Pass at $35 to watch the following five films. 3 of the films are followed by a post-screening discussion that, in the spirit of this year’s theme, seeking to foster conversation about the issues depicted and to consider them in a local context as well.

Co-curated by Leong Puiyee and Kelly Leow.
