Young Photographers' Mentorship Programme
The Young Photographers’ Mentorship Programme (YPMP) aims to develop the artistic voice and ambitions of young image-makers looking to deepen their connection with image-making and consider a career in the visual arts or photography. This three-week mentorship programme encourages exploration and experimentation with image-based work, while developing an understanding of professional possibilities in the arts.
Through working on a personal project, participants will learn how to build a photographic practice, navigate professional and ethical challenges, and deepen their understanding of the broader arts ecosystem. The programme will culminate in an open studio presentation at Objectifs, offering the chance to share their work with peers, industry professionals, and the public.
Participants are guided by some of Singapore’s leading visual storytellers, gaining valuable insights through mentorship, group critique sessions, and hands-on learning. Whether you’re just starting out or already on your creative path, this programme offers a space to develop your vision and understanding of the photographic arts.
The Young Photographers’ Mentorship Programme takes off from our earlier mentorship programme, Shooting Home, which ran from 2003 to 2016, and is a continuation of our formerly named Junior Shooting Home/Shooting Home Youth Awards which started in 2011.
Shooting Home ran as an annual programme designed with the belief that ‘home’ is the first step for aspiring photographers to explore their professional careers. The programme brought together a community of mentors (established photographers, visual artists and curators), to create a supportive environment for emerging photographers to develop as professionals.
