Objectifs Artists-in-Residence 2024

Objectifs welcomed Luna Chang, Tay Yiling and Ng Xin Lui. as the artists-in-residence for a two-month Artist Residency programme in 2024.  The three artists were alumnae of our Young Photographers Mentorship Programme, and the residency marked Objectifs’ continued support in their artistic journey, by providing them with valuable resources and space to develop projects in a conducive environment.

This year’s residency culminated in an outdoor exhibition and photo collage workshop, as part of a collaborative project by Centre 42, Objectifs, P7:1SMA, SMU-Arts and Culture Management, and The Theatre Practice, also known as #WaterlooStKakis, at Singapore Night Festival 2024.

Waterloomaxxing by Luna Chang and Tay Yiling

Waterloomaxxing is an image-based collage work that riffs off the multifaceted visual repositories existing within and around Waterloo. Playing on the new slang suffix “maxxing”, this work sees two artists approaching the same canvas with two distinct visual languages, in a maximalist culmination of found, captured and generative imaging methods.

Welcome to Waterloo by Luna Chang

Welcome to Waterloo is an interactive zine filled with photo-taking activities to be carried out on the premises of Waterloo. The zine acts as a little guidebook to taking pictures around the Waterloo estate- promoting conscious and intentional photo-taking and experimental ways of seeing habits when it comes to taking photographs with our mobile devices. The contents of the zine are suitable for audiences aged 12 and above.
