A Love Song
An exhibition by Mary-Ann Teo
A Love Song features photographs of Singapore bands by Mary-Ann Teo, made from the early 90s to present day. An ardent fan of local music, Mary-Ann has been attending gigs since her early youth, and continues to this day to seek out new bands making music that move and excite her. In these images we see stalwarts of the scene such as Force Vomit, The Stoned Revivals and Hanging Up the Moon, as well as younger counterparts The CB Dogs and True Anger. There are also glimpses of venues past and present, that make precious space for audiences to share the energy of live music.
As a photographer herself, Mary-Ann uses image-making as a means of connecting with and supporting her beloved bands. Part documentation and part tribute, her photographs pay homage to the talent, passion and hard work needed to be a musician in Singapore.
The exhibition will kick off with a lively day of Singaporean bands celebrating love through music, featuring Ashvind Ramani, TypeWriter, The Oddfellows, The CB Dogs, Leslie Low, Hanging Up The Moon, Piblokto!
The Oddfellows and The CB Dogs will also be selling exclusive merchandise.
