The Objectifs Film Residency is a reciprocal residency that is dedicated to providing filmmakers valuable space, resources and networking to help them develop their film projects. The residency programme aims to facilitate the research and creation of filmmakers’ work in progress projects.

Objectifs will host one international filmmaker (with the recommendation of our international partner) and the international partner will host a Singaporean filmmaker in return.

Our international partner for this edition of the Objectifs Film Residency is Cinedarbaar, based in New Delhi, India.

Cinedarbaar is engaged in promoting research, aesthetics, art, culture and education at the grassroots level and creating intellectual forums. The group is working towards developing a space for different art and culture in India to create a synergy for human development and unity.


In addition to their project work, the selected residents will be required to

  • Conduct at least 1 screening or talk relating to the project, personal portfolio, and/or films from respective countries;
  • Meet and host each other in their respective countries, meeting at least once a week


The 4-week residency programme will take place:

  • For India-based filmmaker, from July 2017 (dates to be determined).
  • For Singapore filmmaker, from August/September 2017 (dates to be determined).


Applications must be submitted by Tuesday 18 April 2017. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. We will not accept any late applications after the deadline. Applicants will be notified by early end April 2017.


  1. Applicants must be a director/scriptwriter/producer of at least 2 short films.
  2. Selection of the applicant is based on portfolio and a project brief/proposal (to be attached to application). Please indicate if this is a new project you will be embarking on or if it is an existing project you are currently working on.
  3. Please attach letter(s) of recommendation (max. 2)
  4. Your project / research proposal should include:
    1. Area of research
    2. What you hope to present at the end of the residency]
    3. A strong relevance to either Singapore or India will be a bonus.

For the Singapore filmmaker:

  • Open to Singapore/Singapore PR filmmakers, scriptwriters and film producers with a work in progress project.
  • You must have a passport that is at least 6 months valid for the travel dates.

For India-based filmmaker:

  • Open to India citizens/residents of India (you must have a permanent address in India), scriptwriters and film producers with a work in progress project.
  • You must have a passport that is at least 6 months valid for the travel dates.


  1. Basic accommodation and workspace for the duration of the residency only.
  2. One round-trip economy class air ticket (capped at S$500).
  3. Research stipend of S$500.
  4. The residents will be responsible for all incidentals, local travel, meals, daily living expenses and hiring of any assistants or production crew (if/where relevant).
