2h over 1 session

Course Description
Located a stone’s throw from Chinatown, Keong Saik Road is a one-way road located within an area given conservation status by the Urban Redevelopment Authority. In the 1960s, Keong Saik, which is home to many “two and three-storey shophouses in transitional, late and art deco architectural styles” was a prominent red-light district, and the site of secret society activity.

Since the 1990s, Keong Saik has been occupied by stylish boutique hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, art galleries and shops, and enjoys a reputation with both tourists and locals as a popular and photogenic neighbourhood, even as cultural sites like Cundhi Gong Temple and Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple and the communities that congregate there continue to flourish.

Soak in the atmosphere of Keong Saik Road while learning about street photography, architecture photography, simple portraiture, and shooting during the beautiful evening “golden hour” and sunset. Participants are to bring their own cameras they are comfortable with; smartphones are suitable too.
