Course Description

Are you looking for exciting activities that your kids will love this coming June school holidays? Look no further than our OBJECTIFS JUNIOR workshops!

Through a series of hands-on activities, your kids will learn how to express themselves creatively through visual storytelling, using the mediums of photography, filmmaking, and animation. For kids who are fans of Pokémon or Minecraft, sign them up for our themed animation camps where they can learn to create their own animations featuring their favourite characters! With video content taking the world by storm, our Young YouTubers and Junior TikTokers camps are perfect for introducing the magic of filmmaking to the creative young minds of our next generation. If your child is someone who loves adventures, our photocamp takes them on a fun photo scavenger hunt around the visually and culturally rich Bras Basah Precinct.

Pokémon Animation Camp (31 May to 1 Jun, 10am - 1pm / $180) FULL

Do your kids love all things Pokémon? This workshop is perfect for them to learn how to bring their favourite Pokémon characters to life through the art of animation! Through this workshop, your child will:

a) Experiment with techniques such as pixilation — a stop-motion technique where people become life-size “puppets” when slight body movements are captured frame by frame to produce an animated sequence. In this workshop, your kids will have a chance to be active and make creative use of everyday objects such as costumes and props, to create their very own animated story.

b) Develop original characters and create paper puppets that they will bring to life in their short animated films. They will learn storyboarding to develop a narrative, and use a free mobile app to create a short stop-motion sequence with our original figurines and other props.

No prior experience is required, suitable for ages 6 to 12. A smartphone or device with camera function is required for this workshop.

Experience the magic of photography through mini activities, fun challenges, and photo scavenger hunts around the visually and culturally rich Bras Basah Precinct, home to many old buildings and cultural monuments! Through this workshop, your child will:

a) Learn the basics of photography — getting their pictures in focus, composing better to make their images more interesting, understand how to work with the available light and shadows, and long exposure to do light painting.

Our popular Young YouTubers Camp is back again this June holidays with a new focus on gaming commentary videos that are highly popular with the gaming community on YouTube!

In this technical-focused game commentary workshop, we will dive into the intricacies of providing high-quality commentary while playing video games. We will cover technical topics such as audio and video production and camera placement, and software for recording and editing. You will learn how to adjust audio levels, reduce background noise, and capture high-quality footage of your gameplay. We will also discuss the importance of understanding the game’s mechanics and the language used in the community. Clear communication is essential, and we will explore tips on using appropriate language and terminology that your audience can understand. By the end of this workshop, you will be equipped with the necessary technical skills to create engaging and high-quality game commentary content.

No prior experience is required, suitable for ages 9 to 14. Equipment will be provided.

The second instalment of our popular Young YouTubers Camp focuses on making a challenge video, another genre of video that is popular on YouTube! Under the guidance of experienced instructors, your child will:

a) Learn how to transform everyday spaces into an interesting backdrop to shoot content, and put their skills into practice by shooting around Objectifs in teams.

b) Edit their footage with a free video editing app, and learn how to add finishing touches like titles, captions, music and even simple animations. By the end of the programme, they will be ready to create their very own YouTube videos to express themselves creatively!

No prior experience is required, suitable for ages 5 to 9. Equipment will be provided.

Journey into the Magic of Light: Exploring Pinhole Photography (26 to 28 Jun, 10am - 1pm / $280)

Welcome to our captivating pinhole photography workshop, where young explorers will embark on a thrilling adventure to uncover the secrets behind the physics and chemistry of photography. Join us as we delve into the fascinating world of optics and light-sensitive materials.

Throughout this workshop, children will engage in hands-on activities designed to deepen their understanding of the principles that govern the art of photography. By experimenting with pinhole cameras that they build, they will discover how light travels and interacts with objects, and how it can be manipulated to create stunning visuals. This exploration of optics will enable them to comprehend the fundamental concepts underlying the formation of images.

At the end of the workshop, the participants will be bringing back the camera that they built as well as the photographs that they created using the camera.

No prior experience is required, suitable for ages 7 to 14.
