An exuberant outburst of hues will greet visitors when they step into group exhibition Kaleidoscope! Named after the Greek etymology of the word – Kalos (beauty), Eidos (form), and skopeo (to examine) – this group exhibition by 22 young artists is an exploration of colour theory and its many applications. With over 40 artworks on show, each with a unique take on colour (from the way it is perceived to the emotions it evoke), this exhibition underscores the artists’ commitment to their studies and the mastering of this challenging aspect of art. Curated by John Tung, he welcomes all to observe beautiful forms and attune to how artists with disabilities experience the world. This exhibition is complemented by a range of public programmes. About ART:DIS
ART:DIS exists to serve and create opportunities for persons with disabilities in the arts. By adopting the definition used within Singapore’s Enabling Masterplan, this means we are committed to enabling, empowering and engaging persons whose prospects of securing, retaining and advancing in education and employment are substantially reduced as a result of physical, sensory and/or intellectual disabilities.
As one of the few social service agencies (SSAs) in Singapore that accepts students or artists with physical, sensory and/or intellectual disabilities, this means we have differentiated approaches to learning, training and collaborating which are adapted to suit the students’ and artists’ accessibility needs.
