The future of filmmaking and storytelling is here! Virtual reality, augmented reality and 360 filmmaking are more than just buzzwords today. Get a headstart now. Try them out first hand, in our school holiday workshops taught by specialists in these emerging technologies.

Wonder what it’s like to be a pop star? Try it out for yourself! In this highly hands-on workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of filmmaking using professional video cameras and audio equipment.

Working in groups, they will take turns to play the roles of director, crew and performers to shoot a video in and around Objectifs, set to their favourite songs. They will learn to edit their footage using Final Cut Pro X on Mac computers, and end the session with a screening of their very own music video!

All equipment will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a thumb drive or portable hard disk with them if they would like to bring home a copy of their completed music video. Alternatively, it can be emailed to them or a parent / guardian.

With virtual reality’s ability to bring our imagination to life, we can take storytelling to a whole new level. In this introductory workshop, participants will be introduced to virtual reality and view appropriate VR content using smartphones and their very own Google Cardboard, which they will get to bring home with them.

They will learn principles of good storytelling and write their own short story, which they will build using a free browser-based software. Once they’ve created their story world, it’s time to view it with Google Cardboard and see it come to life!

Participants are to bring a smartphone which can connect to WiFi. Please ensure permissions are set on the smartphone to download an app from the Apple or Google App Stores.

What is augmented reality? Did you know that if you’ve played Minecraft or Pokémon Go, you’ve already had a taste of AR?

In this introductory workshop, participants will learn what AR is and how it works, and create their own AR content which they will see spring to life using an augmented reality mobile app.

360 video is an exciting new frontier in filmmaking that allows us to capture what’s all around us, and create immersive video experiences.

In this highly interactive workshop, participants will be introduced to 360 filmmaking techniques and gain hands-on experience shooting 360 video with special cameras.

Working in small groups, we will write and film a short sequence or scene, edit it and share our work with the class. You will leave inspired by the possibilities of 360 filmmaking and with the basic skills to embark on your own projects.
