Introduction to the Filmmaker's Journey

For those who aspire to be filmmakers, this is your chance to make your own short film - learn how to write, direct, shoot and edit your own short film in ten sessions.

Participants in this course will learn both the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking - including scriptwriting, cinematography, lighting, sound and editing. We will also review examples of different genres, including narrative, documentary and experimental, drawing inspiration from short films and features made locally and internationally. You will produce a own short film during the course, using a prosumer digital video camera and Final Cut Pro editing software.

Guided by industry professionals with more than 27 years of experience together, this workshop is your first step in the exciting filmmaking journey!

(Note: Session 6 is an in-class production session on Nov 8, Sat, 1000am to 100pm. There is a production break between Nov 9 - 17 to allow participants to work on their films.)
Instructors

Lillian Wang
Lillian Wang is a freelance filmmaker who has written and directed for short films and television. She began her career as a sitcom writer at Mediacorp Studios before returning to school and graduating with an MFA in film directing and production from the University of California, Los Angeles. Most recently, she has been directing for television as well as writing feature film scripts, including Fallen, a participating project in the 2006 Pusan Promotion Plan, for LebrocquyFraser Productions.

Pok Yue Weng
Yue Weng has more than a decade of experience in the media production industry working with illustrious cinematographers like Willie Tang and Gary Wapshott. Having been involved in many major Singapore and Hong Kong film productions, his production credits include The Road Less Travelled, The Tree and many other film projects and television commercials. Yue Weng co-owns The Creative Room, and directed superDONG, a short film which screened at the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes in 2007.
