| Calling For Volunteers!
As part of a charity project, Objectifs will be partnering up with Singapore
General Hospital over the next few months to teach hospital patients
photography and use it as a form of visual therapy.
We are on the lookout for volunteers who will be interested in helping
out
with this project. Enthusiasm in photography is greatly encouraged, and
volunteers need not be experienced photographers. They should also possess
their own digital cameras which will be used during the volunteer sessions.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Can be both male or female
- Aged 18 years old and above is preferred
- Should be able to speak at least Mandarin or Malay or Tamil, conversant
in a dialect would be advantageous
- The project is conducted over two months and volunteers should
be able to commit to at least two sessions (see below for dates)
- Should have an enthusiasm for photography. Experience in photography
is not required as we will be covering the basics of photography during
the briefing
- Should possess own digital camera (point and shoot models are acceptable)
which will be used during the volunteer sessions
- Should have some basic computer knowledge, especially relating to
working with images on a computer
- Volunteers will get a parking coupon for free parking at the hospital,
or CIP points for students
Project Timeline:
- 14 July, Saturday, 2-5pm: Briefing session for volunteers
about volunteering in the hospital and a short session on basic photography.
Location for briefing session to be confirmed. This is compulsory
for all volunteers.
- Volunteer sessions: 21 Jul, 28 Jul, 4 Aug, 11 Aug, 18 Aug
and 25 Aug, every Saturday, 2-5pm
Hospital life can be a dreary and depressing experience, and this project
aims to help patients see beyond this and lift their spirits. As we aim
to
begin the project in July, we hope to hear from you by Jun 30.
