A Photography Exhibition and Installation by Geoff Ang October 1 to 14, 2003 |
Unlike the other genres of photography, fashion photography revolves around control in the hands of the photographer. The perfect model. The perfect pose. The perfect lighting. The perfect angle. The perfect make-up. The perfect wardrobe. And all of that in symphony creates the perfect fashion shot. Geoff Ang seeks to explore the opposite of that, by transferring the photographer’s control into the hands of the model. 25 models were invited to a casting session, of which 10 were selected for the exhibition. A still camera and a video camera were set up to frame the same space, and the models were asked to introduce themselves in front of the cameras. The video camera ran for 60 seconds, and the still camera was triggered at the end of the minute. The result is a collection of raw, unframed and untouched images capturing the true expressions of the models in a totally new light. There are 8 large format images on display at Objectifs. |
