In 2006, the University of Missouri, USA, selected Deanna as an International Participant for the Missouri Photo Workshop. Inspired by the history of the workshop, she became interested in how photography documents change. She worked on Lien Foundation’s Life Before Death Campaign to photograph hospice and terminally ill patients and their families in their last days. The photos were compiled into albums for the families and resulted in a solo exhibition at the Month of Photography (Asia) 2009. Her belief that photography allows a unique way of looking at life was reinforced when she was commissioned by development agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Technische Zusammenarbeit, to document 20 Women in Micro- Financing in Indonesia.

As an educator, she has taught photography workshops at numerous schools in Singapore with Objectifs and a mentor for the National Arts Council’s Noise Apprenticeship programme in 2010. She was also involved as a judge for the Noise Photo Competition is 2009 and 2010.

Deanna was one of the nominees shortlisted for the inaugural Icon de Martell Cordon Bleu Photographer of the Year Award in 2010.
